Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Policies

Effective October 1, 2019

i. Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co. Policy

  1. Hours of Operation
    1. At Fire Hydrant Pet Sittings, we care for pets 365 days a year.
    2. Business hours to answer calls and emails are Monday-Saturday 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Sundays 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  2. Meet-and-Greets/Consultations
    1. The first consultation/meet-and-greet is free with one of Fire Hydrant’s managers, and is required. To have the sitter/walker join the consult, the consult will be $10. Any additional meet-and-greets/consultations are $10/each.
    2. Appointment only.
  3. Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co. Pack
    1. Consisted of Employees.
    2. Each pack member has successfully passed a background check and is Pet CPR and First Aid Certified

  5. Unacceptable Pets
    1. No birds (Chickens are acceptable)
    2. No reptiles
    3. No insects or arachnids

ii. Service Request Policy

  1. All bookings/appointments must have a reservation
  2. To request services, please contact Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co. through phone, email, or contact form on our website
  3. Last Minute Bookings/Request:
    1. Last Minute Bookings are not guaranteed without sufficient notice  
    2. For last minute requests after 7:00 PM the day before the service requested, an additional last minute booking fee will apply.
    3. There will be an additional fee for last minute bookings. (Please see the Additional Fees Policy for more details)

iii. Services

  1. Cat Care + Drop-In Visits

    1. Pet (s) must be updated on all shots.
    2. Must provide reliable form of entry.
      1. If form of entry fails, walker will do their  best to contact the Owner with any issues.
      2. Owner must provide water, food, litter, cleaning supplies, etc..
    3. Any additional tasks must be mentioned prior to booking.
  2. Dog Walking

    1. Dog(s) must be updated on all shots.
    2. Retractable leashes are prohibited.
    3. Must provide reliable form of entry. (If form of entry fails, walker will do their  best to contact the Owner with any  issues).
    4. Weekend rates apply on Saturday + Sunday
    5. Evening rates apply on Monday through Friday, from 6:00 PM to 8:30PM

  3. Pet Nanny

    1. Dog(s) must be updated on all shots.
    2. Retractable leashes are prohibited.
    3. Must provide reliable form of entry. (If form of entry fails, walker will do their  best to contact the Owner with any issues).
    4. Minimum of two (2) hours 
    5. Special events may incur an additional rate, please call/text with questions
    6. Any additional tasks must be mentioned prior to booking.

iv. Payment Policy

    1. Payment is required.
    2. Payments can be made in the form of Cash, Check, PayPal, Venmo, QuickPay, or Credit/Debit Card. Please make all checks payable to Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co.
    3. Payments shall not be mailed.
    4. Coins and/or change are not accepted.
    5. Payment Delivery
      1. Payment is required prior to starting service.
        1. Cat Care + Drop-In Visits may be paid:
          1. Full Amount prior to starting services
          2. 50% before the scheduled booking, the last 50% due the last day of service.
        2. Dog Walking may be paid:
          1. Monthly | Must be paid by the 7th of each month or unless specified otherwise.
          2. Bi-Weekly | Must be paid for the upcoming two weeks
          3. Weekly or Daily | Must be paid prior to starting the week or day.
        3. Pet Nanny
          1. 50% non-refundable deposit up to 48 hours prior to booking. 
          2. Full Amount prior to starting services
          3. Weekly, monthly, or daily options available | Must be paid prior to starting the week or day
      2. If you are unable to pay on time or need an extension, we must be notified 24 hours before the due date.
    6. A daily fee will apply if payment is late.
    7. When credited, it must be a service of lower or equal value.

v. Cancellation Policy

  1. If Independent Contractor arrives to Client’s home, and a key is forgotten to be set out then the following may occur:
    1. IC will do everything possible to contact Client.
    2. If Client agreed to Locksmith on Service Agreement, then a locksmith will be called.
    3. Or the Client will be credited for the drop-in/walk.
    4. A $7.50 fee will be applied to cover walkers/sitters time and travel
  2. If cancelling within 12 hours prior to the scheduled booking, the Owner will not receive a refund.
  3. If Sitter/Walker cancels, and there is no replacement, the Owner will receive a full refund or credited for future bookings.
  4. If Owner would like to come back home early, or cut the walk short without a 24 hour notice, no refunds or credits will be issued.
  5. If Owner needs to reschedule there must be a 12 hour notice, and the Owner will be credited. Only two reschedules may be permitted. After second reschedule, Owner will not be refunded.

vi. Unforeseen Circumstance Policy

  1. Weather
    1. Your pet will be taken care of with weather of sunshine, rain, and snow.
    2. For extreme weather circumstances with severe temperatures and hazardous weather conditions, such as temperatures exceeding 95 degrees, or below 15 degrees, the sitter/walker will give the pet a potty break, and spend the remainder of the time playing with the pet indoors.
    3. In the event of the weather being too dangerous and life threatening for the Sitter/Walker to arrive to the Owner’s home, the Owner will be notified that the Sitter/Walker will not be able to perform the service. The Owner will be fully refunded.
  2. Purchases
    1. If the pet supplies that are needed to maintain the health and safety of the pet are not provided, the Sitter/Walker may purchase the supplies needed. Sitter/Walker will keep receipt(s) for the Owner to refund them.
      1. An additional Trip/Errand Fee will be applied (Please view the Additional Fees Policy for more details)
  3. Serious Illness/Death
    1. Owner/Client
      1. At Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co., we understand that unforeseen occurrences happen. (Events such as the Owner or the pet getting sick, death of the pet, death of a family member, or life-threatening emergencies, etc. ) Due to these horrible occurrences, Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting will be more than glad to refund you for the service.
    2. Pet Sitter/Dog Walker
      1. At Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co., we understand that unforeseen occurrences happen, even to our Independent Contractors. If a replacement can not be found to complete the service requested, the Owner will be refunded or credited.

vii. Additional Fees Policy

  1. Additional fees for cancellations (please see the cancellation policy for more details
  2. After Hours, (8:30PM – 10:30PM), $9
  3. Before Hours (8:30PM – 10:30PM), $9 
  4. Bounced Check, $35
  5. Errand Trip Fee $10
  6. Forgotten Key $7.50
  7. Holiday Rates Apply around the holiday seasons
  8. Last Minute Booking Fee $9, applies after business hours at 7PM or the day of request.
  9. Late Payment is $10 per day until full payment is received
  10. Travel fee, $5-$9 for pet nanny and services outside of service area
