Dog Walking & Pet Sitting Policies

      3. All communication with the dog walkers & sitters goes through our software on Time to Pet (TTP).


    3. Hours of Operation – we care for pets 365 days a year. 
      1. Dog Walking Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
        1. Dog Walking is available in the evenings, however they will be charged the price of a drop-in visit. 
        2. Dog Walking is available on the weekends, however they will be charged the price of a drop-in visit. 
      2. Pet Sitting Hours (drop-in visits / cat care): 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
      3. Doggy Daycare Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM


    4. Consultations
      1. A consultation is required prior to beginning services and an appointment must be set.
      2. For consultations, they are $15.00 per consult to compensate for time & travel for the Fire Hydrant employees.


    5. The Fire Hydrant Team
      1. The Fire Hydrant Team consists of Employees.
        1. FHPS employees are not for direct hire, and may not compete against FHPS.
        2. The employees are covered by Worker’s Compensation insurance in case of an accident and/or injury.

  2. Services

    1. For all services: 
      1. Pet(s) must be updated on all shots
      2. Must provide a reliable form of entry.
        1. If form of entry fails, walker will do their best to contact the Owner with any issues
        2. Owner must provide water, food, litter, cleaning supplies, etc..
      3. Any additional tasks must be mentioned prior to booking.


    2. Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co. Services
      1. Cat Care: 
        1. Minimum of one (1) visit per day for those who are going to be away from the local area for a longer time period than one day.  
      2. Drop-In Visits: 
        1. It is considered a Drop-In vs. a Dog Walk when feeding is involved and a short walk (not 30- or 60-minutes) is included. The Client will be charged the Drop-In rate.
        2. If Client has four (4) pets or more, at least two of them being dogs, then a 60-minute visit is required. 
      3. Pet Nanny: minimum of two hours. Very similar with drop-in visits, just longer.
      4. Dog Walking: We do not accept retractable leashes. We do have a minimum two walk per week requirement for our dog walking services. 
      5. Reptile Care:
        1. Must be in a cage/enclosed environment
        2. No live feedings
      6. Bird Care: 
        1. No free flying 
        2. Maximum birds per cage is three (3)
      7. Doggy Daycare: Two day per week requirement & an evaluation is required


  3. Payment Policy

    1. Payments can be made in the form of Check, Credit Card, Debit Card or ACH. 
      1. 4.0% service charge applied to credit and debit card payments.
      2. Please make all checks payable to Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co., and if the check bounces, it is a $35 fee. 
      3. Please no cash payments. 
      4. Coins and/or change are not accepted. Payments shall not be mailed.


    2. Payment Delivery
      1. Payment is required prior to starting service.
        1. Cat Care, Drop-In Visits, Bird Care, Reptile Care: Full amount prior to starting services
        2. Dog Walking 
          1. Monthly | Must be paid by the 7th of each month or unless specified otherwise. 
          2. Bi-Weekly | Must be paid for the upcoming two weeks prior to the start of the walks
          3. Weekly or Daily | Must be paid prior to starting the week or day. (NOTE: Your spot will only be reserved for the week paid, and not for future weeks. To hold your spot for upcoming weeks, bi-weekly or monthly may be a better option for you to guarantee and reserve your pets spot)
      2. If you are unable to pay on time or need an extension, Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting must be notified 24 hours before the due date. 
    3. A daily fee of $10 will apply if payment is late. 
    4. For Holiday Rates, please view our website for when the dates apply. 
      1. For Thanksgiving and Christmas a non-refundable 50% deposit is due 10 days prior to the start date of services. The non-refundable deposit may not be credited. 
      2. No refund for the whole reservation will be given if the scheduled booking is canceled or adjusted within three days of the first visit/walk.
      3. This applies to Drop-In Visits, Cat Care, Bird Care, Reptile Care and the Pet Nanny. 
    5. When credited, it must be a service of lower or equal value.


  1. Cancellation Policy 
    1. If Employee arrives to Client’s home, and a key is forgotten to be set out then the following may occur:
      1. The employee will do everything possible to contact Client and Emergency Contact 
      2. If Client agrees to a Locksmith on the Service Agreement, then a locksmith will be called.
      3. If no locksmith or any other way to enter the home, no refund will be given to compensate for Employee’s time.
    2. FOR DOG WALKS: To cancel walks last minute, the Owner needs to cancel prior to 7:00pm the day before to receive a credit or refund. Any walks canceled after 7:00pm or the day of will not receive a refund. 
      1. If canceling within 24 hours prior to the scheduled booking, the owner will not receive a refund or a credit for future services.
      2. If canceling within 3 days prior to the scheduled booking, the owner will receive a 50% refund or credit for future services.
      3. If canceling within 5 days of the scheduled booking, the client may receive a full refund or a credit for future services.
    4. There may be occasions that FHPS may request a 50% deposit if a client frequently cancels or reschedules bookings. 
    5. If Sitter/Walker cancels, and there is no replacement, the Owner will receive a full refund or credit for future bookings.
    6. If Owner would like to come back home early, or cut the walk short without a 24 hour notice, no refunds or credits will be issued.
    7. If the Owner needs to reschedule there must be a 12 hour notice, and the Owner will be credited. Two reschedules may be permitted. After the second reschedule, Owner will not be refunded.


  2. Unforeseen Circumstance Policy
    1. Weather
      1. Your pet will be taken care of with weather of sunshine, rain, and snow. 
        1. If your pet does not feel comfortable walking in rain or snow, please inform Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting beforehand so precautions may be taken.
        2. If the walk has to be rescheduled due to rain or snow, it will be credited towards the Clients account.
      2. For extreme weather circumstances with severe temperatures and hazardous weather conditions, such as temperatures exceeding 90 degrees, or below 25 degrees, the sitter/walker will give the pet a potty break, and spend the remainder of the time playing with the pet indoors. 
      3. In the event of the weather being too dangerous and life threatening for the Sitter and/or Walker to arrive at the Owner’s home, the Owner will be notified that the Sitter/Walker will not be able to perform the service. The Owner will be fully refunded. 
      4. When it comes to snow in the driveway and walkway up towards the home, the snow must be shoveled by the owner or a professional service for the Sitter / Walker to arrive at the Clients home safely. Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co., LLC is not liable for any snow shoveling on the Clients property. If the sitter / walker can not safely park their car or walk up the driveway and walkway up towards the home, the service may not be completed and a refund shall not be given due to the lack of shoveling of snow on the property.


    2. Purchases
      1. If the pet supplies that are needed to maintain the health and safety of the pet are not provided, the Sitter/Walker may purchase the supplies needed. The Sitter /Walker will keep receipt(s) for the Owner to refund them. 
        1. $10.00 Trip/Errand Fee will be applied


    3. Serious Illness/Death
      1. Owner/Client
        1. At Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co., we understand that unforeseen occurrences happen. (Events such as the Owner or the pet getting sick, death of the pet, death of a family member, or life-threatening emergencies, etc. ) Due to these horrible occurrences, with sufficient notice (please advise the cancellation policy, Clause number 4) Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting will be more than glad to refund or credit you for the service. 
        2. For holidays, the non-refundable deposit must still be paid.


      2. Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) and Future Pandemics
        1. We respect all opinions regarding COVID-19. We trust that everyone understands the risks and knows the protocols suggested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We presume that all those who travel or choose to not be vaccinated or not wear a mask understand all potential risks. 
        2. As a small business, we have to protect ourselves. All Fire Hydrant Team Members will wear masks upon requests, and take the appropriate actions and needed measures that the CDC recommends to keep everyone safe. If scheduled drop-in visits or dog walks are canceled last-minute due to COVID-19, the Client will not receive a refund nor credit. The cancellation policy (Clause 4) will still apply. 
        3. For future pandemics and/or epidemics, FHPS will continue to follow any state, federal, and/or CDC recommendations. If another hypothetical pandemic/epidemic broke out, due to the unexpected occurrence, credits and/or refunds will be provided.


      3. Pet Sitter/Dog Walker
        1. At Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co., we understand that unforeseen occurrences happen, even to our Employees. If a replacement can not be found to complete the service requested, the Owner will be refunded or credited.

Doggy Daycare Policies

Please read carefully. Acknowledge and be aware that by signing this agreement, you will be expressly waiving and releasing all claims that you may have against Fire Hydrant Pet sitting Co., LLC (“FHPS”) and its owners, directors, officers, employees, agents, and all other persons or entities actin for them related to injuries, damages, or loss that you or your dog may sustain while your dog  is under the care of FHPS, and you will be assuming all risk and legal liability with placing your dog under FHPS care.


  1. Daycare Hours: 7:00am – 6:30pm/7:00pm, Monday through Friday. We are closed on weekends and holidays.

  5. Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting Co LLC consists of employees and contractors
  6. Each employee is Pet CPR and First Aid Certified
  7. All breeds, sizes and genders are welcome 
  8. Dogs must be at least four (4) months old
  9. Dogs must be spayed or neutered. For males, they must be neutered after six (6) months old
  10. All dogs must be flea and tick free. FHPS does require your dogs to be on heartworm and flea preventatives. 


    1. Daycare Evaluation
      All dogs attending FHPS Daycare must have completed the enrollment process and passed our evaluation. Vaccination records must be provided prior to the evaluation.

      An agreed upon time to bring your dog by the Daycare is required for an evaluation to ensure the safety of your dog and others. Evaluations must be scheduled in advance. This process is to determine whether your dog is a good fit for FHPS Daycare. FHPS Daycare Application must be completed prior to the evaluation.


    2. Attendance, Drop Off and Pick Up
      Reservations are required for daycare. A minimum attendance of two daycare visits per week is required.

      Drop off times are between 7:00am and 8:30am. Your dog must be dropped off between these times. Pick up times are between 5:00pm and 6:30pm. Your dog must be picked up between these times.


    3. Late Drop Off’s
      FHPS Daycare has a daily schedule for the dogs in our care. Timeliness is very important. If you are running late, please give us a call ASAP. By 9:30am, FHPS Daycare may not accept your dog and a last minute cancellation fee will be charged.


    4. Late Pick Up’s
      If you pick up your dog after 7:00pm, a $40 per hour charge will be applied to compensate for overtime of the FHPS staff. If you are running late, please call ASAP with an estimated time of arrival. Your dog may not stay the night at FHPS. Our license and permits do not include overnight stays or boarding.


    5. Right to Refuse Service
      FHPS reserves the right to to refuse, or turn away, dogs and their owners at any time for any reason. Please be aware that FHPS Daycare is not suited for every dog and safety is of the utmost importance. If we feel a dog will create an unsafe environment for themselves or other dogs or towards humans, on any behavior FHPS may encounter, the dog may not participate in FHPS Daycare.


    6. Vaccinations
      All dogs must be current on all vaccinations. Vaccination records must be provided prior to the evaluation.
      1. DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, and Leptospirosis)
      2. Bordetella, required every six months
      3. Rabies 
      4. Certificate verifying the dog is free from intestinal parasites, annual fecal testing will be required
      5. Exceptions will be made if veterinary approved/signed titer levels are provided


  • Daycare Packages and Specials
    1. A purchase of a package is required to use FHPS daycare services.


    2. Packages expire 45 days after the purchase date.


    3. Packages may be temporarily paused with a 48 hour notice in cases of travel or illness. Limits may be applied.


  1. No cash or checks are accepted at this time. Contactless payments only, debit or credit card are both accepted. A 4.0% service charge is applied to cover credit and debit card expenses.


  2. FHPS reserves the right to periodically adjust pricing and fees with or without given notice.


  3. An invoice for any additional services or charges will be added to the pet owner/Client, invoice and/or account.


  4. Payment is required prior to dropping your dog off at Daycare or beginning any other services. 


  1. A late payment charge of 8% is applied if the bill is not paid by the due date. Another 8% charge will be applied for every three (3) days the bill goes unpaid. 

Cancellations & Fees

    1. Last Minute Cancellation and No Show’s
      If you are unable to keep your reservation, we ask that you cancel by 6:00pm the previous day. If you need to cancel a Monday reservation, please still call on Sunday to cancel by 6:00pm. No refunds will be provided with last minute cancellations or no-shows.


    2. Advanced Cancellations
      If you need to cancel an upcoming daycare reservation, your account will be credited.


    3. Feedings
      If your dog needs to be fed a meal while at the daycare, a $7.00 charge will be applied.


  • One-On-One/Individual Walks
    1. 1:1, 15-minute walk, $17
    2. 1:1, 30-minute walk, $27



  1. Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risk
    I acknowledge that dog daycare and dog walking services and all other services provided by FHPS (the “Services”) require human-to-dog and dog-to-dog interactions that involve known and unanticipated risks, which could result in physical injury to myself and my and other dogs  and to  FHPS’s employees and agents, as well as property damage. I understand such risks simply cannot be eliminated, despite the use of reasonable safety procedures and equipment, without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the Services. I expressly accept and assume all of the risks inherent in the Services or that might have been caused  by the negligence of FHPS, and understand that I am responsible for any injuries, whether to humans or other animals, or property damage caused to or by my dog while my dog is attending daycare at FHPS or is otherwise under the care of FHPS. Placing my dog in FHPS’s care is purely voluntary and I elect to do so despite the aforementioned risks.


  2. Release
    I hereby voluntarily waive, and release and forever discharge FHPS from, any and all claims, demands,  or causes of action (collectively, “Claims”) which are in any way connected with FHPS’s provision of the Services  to my dog, including Claims for injuries to myself and my dog, up to and including the death or disability or myself  or my dog, notwithstanding the fact that such Claims may be the result of FHPS’s negligence. I understand that items brought for daycare may be damaged/destroyed and that FHPS shall not be responsible for such  damage/destruction


  3. Indemnification
    I indemnify and hold harmless FHPS from any and all liabilities and expenses (including any  reasonable attorney’s fees) incurred by FHPS or Claims against FHPS as a result of my or my dog’s actions. If  FHPS is required to incur attorney’s fees and costs to enforce this agreement, I agree to reimburse, indemnify,  and hold FHPS harmless with respect to such fees and costs.


  4. Treatment of Injuries and Illnesses
    I understand and agree that any problem or injury that develops with my dog  will be treated as deemed best by FHPS in its sole discretion. Either my veterinarian or a veterinarian selected by FHPS will be contacted in the event of a medical problem that is serious in nature. I agree that I am fully  responsible for the costs of any such medical treatment. If my dog should become ill or seem to be in need of  medical consideration, FHPS reserves the right to administer aid and/or to use any available veterinarian. I, the owner, shall pay any expenses so incurred. I understand that when dogs play in group’s nicks and scratches may occur. Daycare staff may or may not notify me immediately. If the injury is not serious the staff can let my dog  continue to play and let me know about it later.


  5. Disclosure of Medical and Behavioral Issues.
    I have informed FHPS of any conditions my dog may have that  may affect its interactions with people or other dogs, such as illness or aggression problems, and understand and  agree that in admitting my dog to FHPS, FHPS has relied on my representation that my dog is in good health  and has not harmed or shown aggressive or threatening behavior towards any person or any other dog. While I believe that my dog is not aggressive, I understand that if he or she behaves aggressively or displays behaviors  deemed unacceptable by FHPS, he/she will be removed from the play group. If FHPS deems my dog a danger  to himself/herself or others, my dog may be asked not to return. Such determinations will be made at the sole discretion of FHPS.



  1. I understand that if my dog is left under FHPS’s care for three days without reservations or contact from me, the dog will be considered abandoned and necessary steps will be taken to turn the dog over to the proper authorities.


  2. I agree that this agreement shall be binding on me and my successors, heirs, assigns & legal representatives.


  3. The interpretation and enforcement of this Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the state of Illinois without regard to its conflict of law principles. If any portion of this agreement is found to be void or  unenforceable, the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. 


I have fully read and understand the terms of the above Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting test Policies, Service, and Liability Waiver Agreement and understand that I have given up substantial rights by signing it and have done so voluntarily.
